The bottom of the 240mm (9.4) in fry pan is only 7.09 inches. The 270mm (11 in) has a base diameter of 8.66. These measurements are for just the flat part that would make full contact with the burner. The bottom is rounded and when you account for the flare, not much if any of the burner will be showing from around the base. A much closer fit without getting into larger pans would be a saute pan. These have straight sides so the top dimension is almost equal to the bottom. For instance, a Demeyere Industry 3 qt sauce pan is 9.4 inches at the top and 8.86 inches of flat surface. The difference again is just a slight rounding of the corners as the edges are not totally squared. The area not covering the burner would be almost imperceptible.
