One of the biggest problems with putting knives in the dishwasher is damage to wood and plastic handles. Global are completely stainless so there is no risk of water damage to the handles. The steel is highly stain resistant so that shouldn't be a problem. Some dishwasher detergents are extremely caustic so check to make sure reddish brown spots don't begin to appear on the blade. If they do, use BarKeepers Friend to remove them. No knife manufacturer recommends dishwashers, but I understand wanting to use them for steak knives. The Global steak knives should be safe, but the manufacturer has not provided any guidance in this area. I can say that we have sharpened many, many Global knives over the years and have never seen any evidence of rusting or corrosion caused by dishwashers.
